My name is Aleksandrs Karevs, and I’m a full-stack digital marketer from Riga, Latvia. Since purchasing my Sony A7III mirrorless camera in 2018, my passion for photography has become an obsession.
I was so captivated by it that I was able to share my love for taking pictures with my wife, Alina Kareva, who has since become a professional product photographer. Now, we are a family of photographers dedicated to our craft, and even our 4-year-old son, Nikita, has shown an interest!
I’ve wanted to start a blog for about nine years now, but I never took the leap. I was afraid that my ideas wouldn’t resonate, especially since English isn’t my first language.
However, in early 2022, a single YouTube video inspired me to finally give it a shot! Within a day, I came up with the name OhMyCamera, secured the domain, and created this photography blog.
Initially, my plan was to focus solely on product photography, as I have a solid understanding of the subject and my wife has all the necessary professional equipment.
However, I ultimately decided to expand the blog’s scope beyond product photography. I want to cover photography basics for beginners, portrait photography, family photography and other related topics.
Let me begin by sharing one more personal story with you. When my grandfather passed, my grandmother felt lost. Then my son Nikita came into my life, igniting my passion for photography. As I captured precious moments, I realized their incredible power.
Sharing these images with my distant grandmother brought her immeasurable joy. Each photo became a window into our lives, allowing her to witness her grandson’s growth and find renewed purpose. It revealed photography’s potential to bring light in dark times.
Now, my mission is to empower you to capture meaningful moments. Through OhMyCamera, I guide you on a journey of discovery, unlocking your camera’s full potential. Master technical skills, embrace mindfulness, and be purposeful behind the lens.
In 2024, Alina and I embarked on an exciting new adventure by launching WOWCONTLY, our boutique product photography studio. Specializing in skincare and beauty product photography, WOWCONTLY is dedicated to helping small and medium-sized brands create stunning visuals that drive sales and resonate with their audiences.
We’ve had the privilege of collaborating with amazing brands like Dzintars, CARELIKA, SELFNAMED, Kinetics, Helios Nail Systems, and 9realms. Our goal is to combine creative passion with technical expertise to deliver photography that truly reflects the heart of each brand we work with.
WOWCONTLY is a continuation of the values and creativity I’ve always pursued through OhMyCamera, and I’m thrilled to share this new chapter with you!
