Hello, I’m glad to see you here!
My name is Aleksandrs Karevs, and I’m a full-stack digital marketer from Riga, Latvia. Since purchasing my Sony A7III mirrorless camera in 2018, my passion for photography has become an obsession.
I was so captivated by it that I was able to share my love for taking pictures with my wife, Alina Kareva, who has since become a professional product photographer. Now, we are a family of photographers dedicated to our craft, and even our 4-year-old son, Nikita, has shown an interest!
I’ve wanted to start a blog for about nine years now, but I never took the leap. I was afraid that my ideas wouldn’t resonate, especially since English isn’t my first language.
However, in early 2022, a single YouTube video inspired me to finally give it a shot! Within a day, I came up with the name OhMyCamera, secured the domain, and created this website.
Initially, my plan was to focus solely on product photography, as I have a solid understanding of the subject and my wife has all the necessary professional equipment. We have studio flashes, mirrorless cameras, C-stands, reflectors, and more.
However, I ultimately decided to expand the blog’s scope beyond product photography. I want to cover portrait photography, photography equipment, marketing for photographers, and other related topics.
Let me begin by sharing one more personal story with you. When my grandfather passed, my grandmother felt lost. Then my son Nikita came into my life, igniting my passion for photography. As I captured precious moments, I realized their incredible power.
Sharing these images with my distant grandmother brought her immeasurable joy. Each photo became a window into our lives, allowing her to witness her grandson’s growth and find renewed purpose. It revealed photography’s potential to bring light in dark times.
